Singapore Changi Airport is protected by two fire stations maintained for optimum risk management of the two runways. A sub fire station is situated in the central area of the airport and a sea rescue base is located on the coast for sea rescue. 2 main fire stations provide fire protection on each of the 2 runways in operation at Changi Airport in the event of an aircraft emergency, whilst the sub station provides fire coverage between the cargo complex and terminal building. The Sea Rescue Base provides fire and rescue coverage off the coastline of Changi Airport in case of an aircraft ditching.
Fire Station 1 Fire Station 1 measures 73 metres by 29 metres and offers 10 parking bays that house Major Foam Tenders and other specialised vehicles. It has a constantly manned watchtower responsible for the monitoring of air traffic on runway 1 and adjacent areas of the apron. Built next to the fire station is part of the Triage and Casualty Collection Station (CCS) with a helicopter landing point catering for efficient mass evacuation of injured passengers during an aircraft disaster on runway 1.
Fire Station 2 Fire Station 2 measures 170 metres by 30 metres. The vehicle bay can accommodate up to ten fire appliances parked side by side. Next to Fire Station 2 is the Casualty Clearance Station which during an emergency would transport those injured from the crash site on runway 2 to this point for triaging. They would subsequently be transferred to the hospitals by ambulances from the supporting agencies.
Fire Sub-Station 3 Fire Sub Station 3 provides fire-protection service for calls at Passenger Terminal Buildings and other buildings in the airport and also supports Fire Station 1 and 2 in the event of an aircraft crash. Fire Sub-Station 3 measures 20 metres by 15 metres. It can accommodate up to three fire vehicles in the parking bay.
Sea Rescue Base The Sea Rescue Base is located at CAFHI jetty. Its aim is to provide search and rescue in the event of an aircraft ditching incident at sea off the coast of Changi.
