Logistics Hub

Today, Singapore has a number of world-class specialist logistics providers such as DHL Exel Supply Chain, UPS and Schenker with regional headquarters based here. Together with local players, Singapore's logistics industry is capable of providing total integrated logistics solutions, beyond the traditional functions of cargo handling, inventory logistics management and transport arrangement.

The Singapore Government has put in place a framework to develop Singapore into a premier integrated logistics centre in Asia by Year 2010. One of the important strategies is to develop a full range of logistics capabilities to support manufacturing and business services, through third-party logistics providers, chemical logistics companies and electronics distributors.

One of the most recent developments is the creation of an Airport Logistics Park of Singapore (ALPS). The 26 hectares ALPS, which is located next to the Changi Airfreight Centre, is gazetted as a free trade zone and was officially opened on 20 March 2003. The ALPS will enable third party logistics services providers to offer integrated and innovative logistics solutions as well as enable value-added logistics and regional distribution activities to be undertaken within a free trade zone
