Team Led by ST Dynamics Wins CAAS’ First Aviation Challenge

17 August 2017

Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport, Mr Ng Chee Meng graced the award ceremony of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s (CAAS) inaugural Aviation Challenge, where a team led by Singapore Technologies Dynamics Pte Ltd (ST Dynamics), in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd (IAI), emerged winners with a prototype that will help ease the load of baggage handling workers.

Singapore Invests in New Satellite Technology to Enhance Search and Rescue Capabilities

CAAS and EASA Expand Collaboration with New Working Arrangement on Airworthiness Certification

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have signed a working arrangement that will reduce regulatory compliance cost and facilitate more business opportunities for companies in Singapore and Europe. The Working Arrangement on Airworthiness Certification (WA-AC) was signed by Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General of CAAS, and Mr Patrick Ky, Executive Director of EASA, on the sidelines of the World Civil Aviation Chief Executives Forum.

Singapore Concludes Open Skies Agreement with Armenia

14 July 2017

Singapore concluded an Open Skies Agreement (OSA) with Armenia on 12 July 2017. Under the OSA, airlines of Singapore and Armenia will be able to operate any number of services between both countries as well as beyond to any third country, with no restrictions on capacity, frequency, aircraft type and route schedule. In addition, cargo carriers of both countries will be able to base aircraft in the other country for operations to any third country.

Singapore to Explore the Application and Deployment of Space-Based VHF Communications for Air Traffic Management

13 July 2017

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) and GomSpace today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the application and deployment of space-based Very High Frequency (VHF) communications for air traffic management (ATM) in and around the Singapore Flight Information Region (FIR). The MOU was signed by Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General of CAAS, Mr Tang Kum Chuen, President of Satellite Systems Business, ST Electronics, and Mr Niels Buus, CEO of GomSpace, on the third day of the World Civil Aviation Chief Executives Programme (WCACEF) held at the Singapore Aviation Academy.

Singapore Concludes Agreements to Advance International Aviation Development

Singapore today signed two agreements affirming its commitment to contribute to the advancement of international civil aviation. The agreements were signed at the opening session of the World Civil Aviation Chief Executives Forum (WCACEF) held at the Singapore Aviation Academy.
