CAAS Adopts Rainbow Centre

Our staff volunteers with RCMDS’ children at the Charity Day 2008

As an organisation dedicated to its corporate social responsibility, CAAS aims to create opportunities for staff to contribute back to the society and instill a sense of volunteerism in them under the CAAS HOPE Fund. As part of our work-life harmony philosophy, we strongly believe that staff should be meaningfully engaged in community outreach along with their careers.

Over the years, CAAS has always adopted and supported charities, which included the Spastic Children’s Association of Singapore, Katong School and the Singapore Cancer Society. At the same time, it provides aid to the larger community (the disabled, children, elderly or needy families) through Community Chest’s funded social services programmes

In April 2008, CAAS officially adopted Rainbow Centre – Margaret Drive School (RCMDS), a registered member of the National Social Services (NCSS) for two years.  Our commitment towards RCMDS includes raising funds to help the children of RCMDS and to organise various staff engagement activities that will allow our staff to bond with our young beneficiaries from RCMDS.

RCMDS  (Separate introduction)

RCMDS is an established charity institution that has a focused objective of enhancing the quality of life of children with special needs through education and training to enable them to achieve their fullest potential. It was first started in 1987 by the former Singapore Council of Social Services and is not representative of the interests of specific ethnic or religion group. The school offers special education programmes for children, one of which caters to children between 4 to 18 years old with developmental disabilities like intellectual, physical, visual and hearing impairments.

The Programme for Children with Multiple Handicaps (PCMH) at RCMDS caters to the special needs for the handicapped children, with specific curriculum tailored to the level of functioning and potential of each child. The PCMH programme aims to allow these children with special needs to learn adaptive living and pre-vocational skills, so that they can be as independent as possible in the community. the PCMH is a programme supported by NCSS. With NCSS as the overseeing authority, it provides us greater transparency and assurance that the funds raised would be put to good use.
