Aviation Open House 2019 to Showcase Latest Innovation

 Industry solutions provide opportunities in enhancing air transport operations and jobs

The Aviation Open House (AOH), organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), will return for its sixth edition from 15 to 17 August 2019 [1]. The launch of AOH 2019 was held at the Suntec City Convention Centre today.

2          The AOH 2019 provides a platform for the aviation community to promote greater understanding amongst members of public, particularly youth, of the range and depth of activities in the sector. Visitors can discover an array of exciting career paths, with 500 jobs available at the Recruitment Fair, and opportunities to connect with representatives from the aviation industry and Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs). Companies will also exhibit some of their technological innovations for the sector.

3          Themed “Harnessing Innovation, Unlocking Possibilities”, AOH 2019 will feature the following:

  • Central Showcase: The spotlight will feature the latest industry technological innovations including the Smart Digital Tower that will transform air traffic control operations, Automatic Speech Recognition prototype that will automate and significantly shorten the transcription process during an aviation incident investigation, and a Flight Informatics software that will enhance the capability to analyse air traffic operations and improve operational performance.
  • Career and Education Talks: Visitors can get a chance to interact with aviation industry representatives who will share their career experiences, and also provide practical advice to students and job seekers who are considering to embark on a career or education in aviation.
  • Recruitment Fair: In collaboration with the NTUC Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), key aviation employers and Institutes of Higher Learning will be conducting recruitment exercises at AOH 2019.
  • Interactive Workshops: A series of interactive workshops will be conducted by Airbus, e2i, the Singapore Scouts Association, STEM Inc, Republic Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic. The two workshops to be held under the Airbus Foundation Little Engineer programme include a hands-on robotics session that will see students assembling their own A380 airplane model, and a follow-on workshop that will have them competing to design and build the best airplane.
