5 Feb 2009

Passengers at Singapore Changi Airport got a rare opportunity to come up close with Mandopop and Cantopop star, Wakin Chau, this afternoon.  Wakin, also known as Emil, made a special appearance at Terminal 1's Departure / Transit Mall. In Singapore for his upcoming concert this weekend, the singer-songwriter autographed posters for lucky passengers while others had the opportunity to take photographs with him.

The singer-songwriter from Hong Kong has a strong following in China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong.  Since 1985, he has released more than 40 albums and held several international concert tours. Wakin has won numerous awards in China and Singapore, with platinum albums such as You Make Me Happy and SadThe Flowery HeartMusic Brings Us Together and Emil & Friends. Apart from his music career, Wakin has also acted in several films.

This rare opportunity to catch Wakin Chau in-person was made possible by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Changi Airport's meet-and-greet sessions with famous personalities.  Previous celebrity sessions featured Air Supply, Mötley Crüe, Jay Chou, Backstreet Boys, Bollywood superstars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, and top golfer Annika Sorenstam.
