There are two types of personnel who can operate aircraft radio equipment. Other than the flight crew who are licensed to operate such equipment, aircraft maintenance personnel – who hold an Aircraft Radio Operator Approval – may also operate and perform maintenance work on aircraft radio equipment when the aircraft is on the ground.
