Factsheet on the Memorandum of Understanding between CAAS and AAI for Cooperation in Training, Research & Development in the Field of Civil Aviation

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to set out a framework for Singapore and India to collaborate in civil aviation training, research and development, to better connect the two countries and support the growth of their respective aviation sectors. Mr Simon Wong, Singapore High Commissioner to India and Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation exchanged the MOU during Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s visit to India on 4 September 2025.
2 Air travel is expected to grow strongly in the coming years, with passenger volume doubling over the next two decades and the Asia-Pacific region contributing to half of that growth. India is a key market while Singapore is a major air hub for the region and the world. There are currently 246 weekly flights between Singapore and India. The new partnership will help strengthen ties and allow Singapore and India to leverage respective strengths to build capacity and capabilities for growth.
3 The MOU was signed by Mr Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS and Mr Vipin Kumar, Chairman of Airports Authority of India on 1 September 2025. Under the CAAS-AAI MOU for Cooperation in Training, Research and Development in the field of Civil Aviation, CAAS and AAI will share knowledge and expertise in aviation safety and security, airport operations and air traffic management. The two parties will work together to develop and deliver training programmes to build skills and competencies in the aviation workforce and undertake research and innovation to develop new solutions and capabilities in these areas.
