Release of free-flying helium balloons
Learn about the safety rules for releasing free-flying helium balloons in Singapore, and when a permit is required.
Free-flying helium balloons can drift far from where they are released.
They may rise to heights that affect aircraft operations. Large clusters can distract pilots during take-off or landing, or be ingested by aircraft engines.
This can endanger lives and damage property in the air and on the ground.
What are free-flying helium balloons
They are unpowered objects filled with helium that stay aloft because helium is lighter than air. They drift with the wind.
