Certification of Products and Articles
Learn about the CAAS approvals required for aircraft and article designs activities in Singapore.
An aircraft’s design must be reviewed and accepted by CAAS before it can be registered in Singapore and issued with a Singapore Certificate of Airworthiness.
This establishes the baseline for future certifications of modifications and repairs and strengthens CAAS’s safety oversight of new aircraft designs.
CAAS issues different types of approvals to support aircraft from initial design acceptance through modifications and repairs during their operational life. These include:
Letters of Acceptance of Type Certificate (LOATCs)
Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs)
Repair Design Approvals (RDAs)
STSO Certificates of Approval
CAAS also maintains mutual recognition agreements with other civil aviation authorities to improve efficiency and reduce duplication of certification activities.
