Approval to use a qualified FSTD
Learn about the approval required before operating your qualified Flight Simulation Training Device.
You must apply for CAAS Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) user approval to use the simulator for approved training programmes or operational tasks.
You can submit the applications for the Certificate of Qualification and the Approval to Use the FSTD simultaneously.
When to apply
For your initial application, submit your application at least 60 days prior to the planned evaluation date.
To renew, submit your application before the expiry of your current Approval to Use a Qualified FSTD to allow sufficient time for a recurrent evaluation by CAAS.
How to apply
Please include the following information in your application:
The relevant segments of the approved training programme and/or specific tasks to be conducted in the FSTD.
An approved training programme refers to one approved by the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the applicant’s operations and/or training manuals.A gap analysis report identifying the following:
differences between the FSTD and the applicant’s aircraft or equipment
proposed mitigations to address them
A valid Certificate of Qualification of the FSTD.
Any other documents or records that support your application.
What is the validity period
The Approval to use a Qualified FSTD is valid for up to 12 months from the date specified in the approval.
To maintain the FSTD user approval, you must do both the following:
ensure the Certificate of Qualification for the FSTD remains valid
comply with the limitations and conditions under the Certificate of Qualification and the Approval to Use
You can renew the Approval to Use a Qualified FSTD using the same CAAS(FO)71 / FSTD 01 form.
