Remote identification
Learn about the remote identification system and how to check if your unmanned aircraft meets the standards and requirements.
UAs weighing over 250g must be equipped with Broadcast Remote Identification (B-RID) when operating outdoors. Operators with an Operator Permit using the FlyItSafe mobile app during approved operations are exempted.
How B-RID works
B-RID works like a digital licence plate for UAs. It uses Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth to transmit information such as the:
aircraft’s position and serial number
operator’s location
operator’s identification reference number
This allows UAs to be identified in the air for safety and security.
Meeting B-RID technical standards and requirements
UAs are considered equipped with B-RID when they have built-in B-RID capability or attached B-RID modules.
Refer to the list of UA models and B-RID modules that meet Singapore’s technical standards and requirements.
Ensuring B-RID functionality
Before operating a UA, operators must verify that the B-RID function is transmitting required information, including the CAAS-assigned UA Operator ID, when airborne.
If the B-RID function fails, stop flying and land immediately.
For details, refer to the Advisory Circular on Broadcast Remote Identification of Unmanned Aircraft.
How to prepare for B-RID
Use the step-by-step guide below to ensure your UAs are equipped with B-RID.
