Requirements for flying unmanned aircraft
Learn about the rules and requirements for operating unmanned aircraft safely and responsibly in Singapore.
To ensure unmanned aircraft (UA) operations are safe and responsible, UA users must meet the relevant regulatory requirements before flying UAs in Singapore.
Who must comply with these requirements
These requirements apply to anyone flying a UA in Singapore, including Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents, and non-residents.
The UA regulatory framework has 3 classifications of UA uses:
recreational
educational
business
Requirements for recreational purposes
You must comply with these requirements or rules to fly UAs for recreational purposes.

Remote Identification requirements | None. | Equip your UA with Broadcast Remote Identification if the total weight exceeds 250g. |
Pilot requirements | You must have a UA Basic Training Certificate or a UA Pilot Licence if the total weight of your UA exceeds 1.5kg but weighs less than or equal to 7kg, and if you are flying your UA in any of the following situations:
You must have a UA Pilot Licence if the total weight of your UA exceeds 7kg, and if you are flying your UA in any of the following situations:

Permit requirements | You must have an Operator Permit and a Class 1 Activity Permit to fly your UA for an event that is attended by more than 50 individuals at any time during the event. | You must have a Class 2 Activity Permit if the total weight of your UA does not exceed 25kg, and you are flying your UA in any of the following situations:
You must have an Operator Permit and a Class 1 Activity Permit if any of the following apply:
You must also obtain a permit from Singapore Police Force (SPF) to fly your UA within protected areas. Note: UA activities are not allowed within prohibited areas at all times. |
