What are the fees
There are no fees to apply for a Noise Certificate.
What is the processing time
Processing timelines vary by application type and are set out in IC 6/2025 Information circular on service standards for processing of aviation safety instruments related to airworthiness, flight operations and training organisations.
You are encouraged to engage CAAS early to discuss your Noise Certificate application to facilitate timely processing.
How to apply
Phase 1: Pre-application
Inform CAAS prior to submitting an application for a Noise Certificate.
Phase 2: Formal application
Fill in and submit your application on eSOMS together with the required documents. The required documents are:
documentary evidence that aircraft complies with ICAO requirements
any other document or report that CAAS may require

Phase 3: Document evaluation
CAAS will review the application and documents submitted. During this phase, CAAS may request clarifications from the applicant.
Phase 4: Demonstration and inspection
CAAS may request demonstration evidence to ensure compliance with applicable noise standards.
Phase 5: Certification
Upon approval, CAAS will notify the applicant and the Noise Certificate will be available in eSOMS. Each certificate includes a QR code for authenticity.
Note: The aircraft must have a valid Certificate of Registration before the Noise Certificate can be granted. For details, refer to Certificate of Registration
Application for Noise Certificate
To apply, submit your application on eSOMS.
If eSOMS is unavailable:
download and complete CAAS(AW)143 Noise Certificate form
submit the form using the Enquiries & Feedback Form (select ‘Safety Regulations & Approvals’ and ‘Aircraft Airworthiness and Registration’)
What is the validity period
The Noise Certificate for an aircraft remains in force until the aircraft is deregistered, or the certificate is suspended or revoked.
What are the conditions
As the holder of a Noise Certificate, you must ensure that your aircraft continues to comply with the applicable noise certification requirements.
If the noise level or certification standard of your aircraft changes, you must notify CAAS and submit a variation application.
How to vary a Noise Certificate
To vary an existing Noise Certificate, notify CAAS and submit a variation application on eSOMS.
There are no fees for variations to a Noise Certificate.
