Certificate of airworthiness
Learn about aircraft airworthiness requirements in Singapore and how to apply for a Certificate of Airworthiness.
A Certificate of Airworthiness attests that the aircraft has been maintained in accordance with an approved maintenance programme and complies with applicable airworthiness and safety regulations and requirements for flight.
Application process
When to apply
You must apply for a Certificate of Airworthiness if you intend to operate a Singapore-registered aircraft.
Who can apply
The holder of an aircraft’s Certificate of Registration can apply.
How to qualify
You must meet all of the following requirements before applying:
Type Certificate
Your aircraft’s Type Certificate must first be accepted by CAAS. Refer to the Letter of Acceptance of Type Certificate for Aircraft Design for details.Registration
The aircraft must hold a valid Certificate of Registration from CAAS.
What are the fees
The fees payable are stated in the Air Navigation Order (ANO) Twelfth Schedule
What is the processing time
Processing timelines vary by application type and are set out in IC 6/2025 Information circular on service standards for processing of aviation safety instruments related to airworthiness, flight operations and training organisations.
You are encouraged to engage CAAS early to discuss your Certificate of Airworthiness application to facilitate timely processing.
How to apply
Phase 1: Pre-application
Notify CAAS of your intention to apply for a Certificate of Airworthiness and purpose of the aircraft’s operation.
Phase 2: Formal application
Fill in and submit your application on eSOMS together with the required documents. The required documents are:
aircraft flight manual
aircraft maintenance schedule
aircraft station licence
declaration of airworthiness compliance
list of incorporated modifications
status of airworthiness directives
aircraft basic weighing schedule
aircraft insurance coverage
any other relevant manuals and documents
Phase 3: Document evaluation
CAAS will review the application and documents submitted. During this phase, CAAS may request clarifications from the applicant.
Phase 4: Demonstration and inspection
CAAS will inspect your aircraft to verify that it complies with the airworthiness regulations and requirements.
Phase 5: Certification
Upon approval, CAAS will notify the applicant and the Certificate of Airworthiness will be available in eSOMS. Each certificate includes a QR code for authenticity.

If eSOMS is unavailable:
download and complete CAAS(AW)29 Application for Issue/Renewal of Certificate of Airworthiness
submit the form using the Enquiries & Feedback Form (select ‘Safety Regulations & Approvals’ and ‘Aircraft Airworthiness and Registration’)
What is the validity period
The Certificate of Airworthiness is valid for one year from the date of issue, unless it is earlier suspended, revoked, or the aircraft is deregistered from the Singapore Aircraft Register.
How to renew a Certificate of Airworthiness
To renew a Certificate of Airworthiness, submit a renewal application on eSOMS at least one month before it expires.

What are the conditions
As the holder of a Certificate of Airworthiness, you must ensure that your aircraft continues to comply with the applicable airworthiness regulations and requirements, and ensure that the certificate details for your aircraft remain accurate.
How to vary a Certificate of Airworthiness
To vary a Certificate of Airworthiness, notify CAAS and submit a variation application on eSOMS. There are no fees for a variation, and the existing validity period of the Certificate of Airworthiness remains unchanged.
