If you are a Singapore flight crew licence holder, and intending to give flying instruction leading to the issuance of a Singapore flight crew licence, you must hold a valid Flying Instructor rating.
CAAS issues two types of Flying Instructor ratings:
- Flying Instructor rating: This entitles you to give flying instruction in aircraft, of aircraft types as specified in the rating.
- Assistant Flying Instructor (AFI) rating: This entitles you to give flying instruction in aircraft under the supervision of a Flying Instructor.
For more information on obtaining the Flying Instructor ratings, please refer to the Advisory Circular on Guidelines For the Flying Instructor (FI) Type Rating Course (PDF, 90 KB), which also includes guidelines on reactivation, change of aircraft type, and renewal of such ratings.
