Aeronautical Information Services
Learn about how CAAS Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) support the flow of information essential for the safety, regularity and efficiency of international and national air navigation.
AIS publications
AIS publications provide accurate and up-to-date aeronautical information to all parties involved in air navigation.
These publications support relevant stakeholders, including flight crew, dispatchers, airport operators, and ground service providers.
The key publications are summarised in the table below:
Name | Summary |
Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) Singapore | Authoritative reference |
AIP Amendments (AMDTs) | Permanent changes to the AIP, issued on a regular basis |
AIP Supplements | Temporary changes of operational significance |
Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) | Information of advisory nature and long-term changes |
NOTAM List | Monthly compilation of valid Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) on hazards and changes affecting flight operations |

Flight procedures
Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs) are developed and published as part of aeronautical information services to support safe and efficient flight operations. These procedures define precise flight paths for different phases of flight, including departure, en-route navigation, arrival, and approach to landing. They are often described as the “invisible roads” in the sky that serve as standardised routes that pilots follow using onboard navigation systems, ground-based navigational aids, and satellite-based systems.
IFPs are developed by qualified flight procedure designers within the Flight Procedure Design Office, in accordance with international standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to ensure safe and efficient flight operations. In Singapore, these procedures are published in Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) as part of the aeronautical information provided to airspace users.
To design how aircraft climb, descend, and turn, CAAS considers factors such as:
safety requirements (e.g. separation between aircraft and obstacles)
airspace and environment (e.g. restricted zones, nearby airports, noise impact)
aircraft performance (e.g. fuel-efficient paths, different aircraft types)
compliance with international design criteria set by ICAO
Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) Singapore
AIP Singapore is the core reference document for all permanent aeronautical information within Singapore's area of responsibility.
It contains information essential for safe and efficient navigation, such as:
airspace structure
communication procedures
aerodrome data
navigation facilities
AIP Singapore is organised into three parts:
GEN (General) – administrative and regulatory information
ENR (En-route) – airspace, routes and procedures
AD (Aerodromes) – data and procedures for each aerodrome
AIP Amendments (AMDTs)
AIP Singapore is updated on a regular basis through AMDTs, issued in accordance with the established publication cycle.
These AMDTs incorporate revisions to procedures, facilities and regulations, ensuring that the AIP remains current and accurate.
AIP Supplements (SUPs)
SUPs contain information on temporary changes of operational significance that affects air navigation, such as runway closures for resurfacing, major events such as the Singapore Airshow or airspace reconfigurations.
They supplement the AIP when a change is expected to last longer than a typical NOTAM but is not permanent in nature.
SUPs remain in effect only for the duration of the change and are withdrawn once the activity or restriction ends.
Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC)
AICs provide explanatory or advisory information on technical, legislative or administrative matters.
AICs are used to:
share background information
clarify regulations or operational requirements
provide advance notice of major long-term changes that may affect flight safety (e.g. new air traffic procedures, regulatory updates, and infrastructure developments)
AICs are not intended for immediate operational use. They help operators and pilots prepare for upcoming changes and understand the context behind them.
NOTAM List
NOTAM
NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) provide time-critical information on temporary hazards or changes that could affect flight operations, such as:
closed taxiways
unserviceable navigation aids
restricted airspace
NOTAMs are issued as soon as the information becomes available and are essential for pre-flight planning and daily operations.
Monthly NOTAM List
NOTAM are compiled into a monthly NOTAM List, which also includes:
a summary of currently valid NOTAM
a checklist of active SUPs
references to the latest AMDT and AIC
Aeronautical Information Management Singapore (AIM-SG)
AIM-SG is an online portal that provides up-to-date information essential for air navigation.
Registered users can:
file flight plans for WSSS and WSSL departures
submit NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), including SNOWTAM proposals
retrieve PIB (Pre-flight Information Bulletin)
Other AIS users can access AIS publications including:
