Local budget carrier Tigerair is launching new flights to Quanzhou, China and Lucknow, India – making it the only airline to operate direct flights from Singapore to these two cities. The two new routes serve to further enhance Singapore’s connectivity to the world and maintain its attractiveness as an international aviation hub, enabling enterprises to extend their footprint, and also affording individuals the opportunity to foster cultural links and personal ties that span the globe.

A major manufacturing city for textile, apparel and petrochemicals in the Fujian province, Quanzhou is an important destination for entrepreneurs and a hotspot for Fujian Chinese from other parts of Asia looking to rediscover their roots. A coastal city, Quanzhou boasts of scenic natural surroundings as well as rich history and culture.

Lucknow will be Tigerair’s 6th destination in India, in addition to Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Tiruchirapalli. Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, ranks among the fastest growing cities in India and is a hub for commerce and culture. It is a major tourist attraction for architectural and heritage buffs, and, as a gateway to cities such as Varanasai, Allahabad and Gaya, an essential pit stop on the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage circuits. In addition, its close proximity to other states such as Delhi and Rajasthan also make it a good connecting city for travellers looking to explore more of India.

“Tigerair is constantly looking for opportunities to provide travellers with greater choice and connectivity. We are delighted to be strengthening our network in China, where we see tremendous opportunities,” said Tigerair’s CEO Lee Lik Hsin. “Lucknow will appeal to travellers looking for a cultural adventure off the beaten path. We hope that this new service will also bring more visitors from Uttar Pradesh to Singapore, and explore South East Asia and Australia from here.”

Holidaymakers and business travellers at Changi Airport bound for these two cities can enjoy thrice-weekly flights onboard Tigerair’s A320 aircraft. The Quanzhou service commenced services in 28 September 2015 while flights to Lucknow commenced on 3 December 2015.
