CAAS and the Aviation Community Set New Record at 4th Aviation Run
Coming together as one community with one passion, some 4,700 members of the Singapore aviation community and their families from over 100 organisations registered for the 4th biennial Aviation Run. Spearheaded by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the Aviation Run is a key event under Aviation Community Cares, which brings the aviation community together to contribute to society in meaningful ways throughout the year. This year, the event raised S$250,000 for the Community Chest, which supports some 80 charities.
Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General of the CAAS said; “It is a privilege to be part of a community that cares for and supports those who are less fortunate. The aviation community has come together to raise more than S$1 million for the Community Chest over the last six years. CAAS is honoured to be able to help play a part for this worthwhile effort by the aviation community.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of Community Chest, Mr Robert Chew, Honorary Treasurer, Community Chest said: “CAAS has been raising funds for Community Chest since 2009 and we are very thankful for their unwavering support to our beneficiaries. They have been a great leader in bringing together members of the aviation community to share their successes with those in need and to help the less fortunate realise their fullest potential.”
"We are extremely pleased to be able to support the Aviation Run organised by CAAS," said Ivan Ho, Managing Director Airbus Group Singapore Pte Ltd. "This event really benefits society through the great work of the various charities sponsored by the Community Chest and we are happy to be able to contribute to this cause."
“It is these people from the aviation community who make Singapore such a successful aviation hub, as they strive to deliver world class service around the clock, seven days a week. You can see their passion and generosity here today at this Aviation Run as they turn out in their thousands to support those who are less fortunate. SATS is proud to play its part in bringing everyone together to enjoy this healthy event with their families and friends,” said Alex Hungate, President and Chief Executive Officer.
