Establishment of Temporary Restricted Area for the Conduct of Aerial Activities during 2018 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will be establishing a temporary Restricted Area over parts of Singapore under the Air Navigation Order (ANO). This is to facilitate low-level helicopter flights conducting aerial filming during the 2018 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix. The temporary Restricted Area (as shown in Annex A) will extend from ground level to 4,000 feet above mean sea level during the following dates and time:

  • 13 September 2018, 1430 hrs to 2230 hrs

  • 14 September 2018, 1600 hrs to 2300 hrs

  • 15 to 16 September 2018, 1500 hrs to 0015 hrs

  • 16 September 2018, 1700 hrs to 2345 hrs

The establishment of the temporary Restricted Area ensures the safety of the aircraft and the public. During the stated dates and time, aerial activities such as flying unmanned aircraft or drones, releasing flight lanterns, kite-flying and hoisting captive balloons within the temporary Restricted Area are prohibited, unless authorised by CAAS, as such activities may endanger the operations of the low-flying helicopter, and pose safety risks to people and property on the ground.

Unauthorised conduct of aerial activities within a temporary Restricted Area is an offence under the ANO. If convicted, a person can be fined up to S$20,000 in the first instance and fined up to S$40,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 15 months in subsequent instances.

Information on the temporary Restricted Area to be established during the 2018 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix is also available on www.singaporegp.sg and www.caas.gov.sg.
