Inaugural Aviation Community Charity Golf Event Raised Over S$280,000 For The Community Chest

The aviation community raised over S$280,000 for the Community Chest at an inaugural Aviation Community Charity Golf event organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) yesterday. Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport, Mr Ng Chee Meng graced the event, which was held at the National Service Resort & Country Club (Changi).

The Aviation Community Charity Golf event, which saw the participation of 31 companies1 and some 120 guests, is an event under Aviation Community Cares which brings the aviation community together to contribute to society in meaningful ways. Through past charity events under Aviation Community Cares, including the Aviation Run and Aviation Community Charity Movie, aviation partners have come together to help raise funds for the Community Chest. Together, the aviation community has raised more than S$1.57 million for the Community Chest over the last nine years.

“I am glad that the aviation community has come together once again to help the less fortunate”, said Mr Ng. “Among those who will benefit from the funds raised at this charity golf are children with special needs, people with disabilities, and disadvantaged families. Every contribution we put into the Community Chest will go some way in helping to equip the recipients with the necessary resources and skills to lead better lives.”

Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General of CAAS, added, “Giving back to the community is something we hold close to our hearts. We are fortunate to have the strong commitment of the aviation community through the years to achieve this common goal.”

Receiving the donation on behalf of Community Chest, Mr Tan Puay Kern, Vice Chairman of Community Chest, said, “We want to congratulate CAAS on the inaugural Aviation Community Charity Golf. We are very grateful for their steadfast support for almost a decade and it is with the sustained contributions from partners like CAAS that the Community Chest is able to continue helping beneficiaries from about 80 charities so they can achieve their full potential.”

Mr Png Kim Chiang, Chief Executive Officer of SIA Engineering Company, added, “As we work together to maintain the excellence of Changi Airport in the global arena, the aviation community is committed to caring for the less fortunate in our society. SIA Engineering Company is honoured to participate in the inaugural Aviation Community Charity Golf and other efforts spearheaded by CAAS to support the beneficiaries of charity organisations.”
