25 Jul 2013
CAAS and industry partners come together to showcase the vibrant Singapore aviation industry
The third Aviation Open House (AOH) was launched by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister of State for Finance and Transport, today at MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO. This biennial event is being held from 25 to 27 July 2013. The AOH provides a platform for the aviation sector not only to promote greater understanding amongst youths and public members of the range and depth of activities in the sector, but also to excite them to pursue a career in aviation.
Centred on the theme "Discover the Heart of Aviation", AOH 2013 will showcase the many facets of Singapore aviation which have made Singapore a vibrant, connected and leading aviation hub of choice. Through the showcases and exhibits, visitors to AOH 2013 will also learn how Singapore aviation is undergoing an exciting period of transformation amidst a more competitive environment and how it is gearing up to capitalise on the anticipated robust growth of air travel in the Asia Pacific.
AOH 2013 brings together more than 45 aviation-related organisations and education institutions presenting themselves and their work as well as the wide variety of career and education opportunities available in the dynamic and growing Singapore aviation sector. For the first time, six industry partners have come together to feature the roles of and professions in six key segments: Aerospace Engineering, Air Navigation Services, Airlines, Airport Management and Services, Aviation Security and Ground Handling Services each an intrinsic and essential part of the aviation ecosystem. Flying schools such as the Singapore Youth Flying Club, and aviation security companies - AETOS Security Management and Certis CISCO Security - are making their first appearance at the AOH.
There will be a range of career and education booths at AOH 2013. Visitors can learn more about the jobs and professions in aviation as well as find out the aviation courses available in Singapore. At the Scholarship Showcase, visitors can find out the scholarships available under the various industry, company-based and government-supported programmes for them to further their qualifications and develop their skills, knowledge and expertise in aviation.
In collaboration with NTUC e2i, a recruitment exercise will run at the AOH for the first time on 26 July 2013. Over 300 pre-selected job seekers will be interviewed by eight aviation organisations on that day. Collectively, these organisations have more than 200 job vacancies.
More than 8,000 visitors are expected at AOH 2013. Admission is free. More information is available at www.aoh2013.sg, www.facebook.com/WeareAviators and www.facebook.com/SingaporeCAAS.
