Establishment of Temporary Restricted Area During 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will establish a temporary Restricted Area under the Air Navigation Order (ANO) as shown in the map at Annex A from ground level to 4,000 feet above mean sea level during the following dates and timings:

  • 17 September 2015, from 1430 hrs to 2359 hrs;
  • 18 September 2015, from 1730 hrs to 2330 hrs;
  • From 19 September 2015, 1730 hrs to 20 September 2015, 0100 hrs; and
  • 20 September 2015, from 1930 hrs to 2230 hrs

This is for low level helicopter flights conducting aerial filming of the 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.

The unauthorised conduct of aerial activities (such as flying of unmanned aircraft, kite-flying and hoisting of captive balloons) within and into the temporary Restricted Area is not allowed during the stated dates and timings. Any unauthorised aerial activity within the vicinity of the low-flying helicopter may interfere with its operations, posing a danger to the helicopter as well as people and property on the ground. The establishment of the temporary Restricted Area is to ensure the safety of the helicopter and the public.

The unauthorised conduct of aerial activities within and into a temporary Restricted Area is an offence under the ANO. If convicted, a person in the first instance can be fined up to S$20,000 and in subsequent instances up to S$40,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 15 months.

Information on the temporary Restricted Area to be established during the 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix is also available on www.caas.gov.sg.
