Application for Letter of Acceptance of Type Certificate for Aircraft Design
The civil aviation authority of the State of Design of an aircraft issues a “type certificate” to signify that the aircraft meets the applicable airworthiness requirements.
As Singapore is not a State of Design for aircraft, CAAS does not issue any type certificates. However, if you are intending to apply for a Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA), please note that the type certificate of the aircraft (issued by the respective State of Design) needs to be accepted by CAAS, before the aircraft can be registered in Singapore and qualify for the issuance of the CoA subsequently. To do so, you will have to apply for the letter of acceptance of type certificate. The letter will be issued to you by CAAS upon fulfillment of the requirements.
CAAS has inked agreements with foreign civil aviation authorities that allows for validation of foreign type certificates. You may find the list of agreements at this page.
For more information on the application, please refer to Singapore Airworthiness Requirements (SAR) Part 21, Subpart A.
Note: All costs incurred for the application evaluation will be recovered from you. The application fees are prescribed in the Singapore Airworthiness Requirements (SAR) Part 21 and Twelfth Schedule of the Singapore Air Navigation Order (ANO).
To apply, please contact us. An officer will be assigned to guide you through the application process.
