CAAS has adopted a “life-cycle” approach to attract, develop and retain talent and manpower in the aviation industry. These include manpower development and retention programmes at all stages of the career, including pre-employment training and upskilling on the job.

SkillsFuture Initiatives for Air Transport Sector

SkillsFuture is a national effort to help Singaporeans develop and master the skills relevant to the future. Several SkillsFuture initiatives have been implemented for the air transport sector, including:

SkillsFuture Study Award (SFSA) for Air Transport

Employees who have worked in the air transport sector for at least three years

Administered by CAAS, the SkillsFuture Study Award (SFSA) for the Air Transport Sector encourages Singaporeans to develop and deepen their specialist skills in aviation, maximise their potential and enhance their employability in our evolving economy. The SFSA for Air Transport is only applicable for courses with a nett payable course fee of at least $2,500 and above.

Air Transport Training Award (ATTA)

Employees who have worked in the air transport sector for at least five years

The Air Transport Training Award (ATTA) is developed to complement the existing SkillsFuture Study Award for Air Transport, to enhance training support coverage for air transport workers, as well as to support workers in their upskilling and reskilling journey.

SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes

Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation, or the Operationally Ready Date for National Servicemen

CAAS is working with employers, institutes of higher education, and SkillsFuture Singapore to develop SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes (WSP) for the Air Transport sector. The WSPs trainees will attend an integrated on-the-job and institution-based training programme. Upon completing the programme, graduates can look forward to a structured career progression with their employers. They will also be awarded industry-recognized Modular Certificates which can form part of a part-time diploma/post-diploma.
